The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) measures the ability of non-native speakers of English to use and understand North American English in an academic setting. Most people who take the TOEFL test are planning to study at colleges and universities in North America.  The test is one of the most widely respected English-language tests in the world, recognized by more than 8,000 colleges, universities and agencies in more than 130 countries. Designed and Owned by Educational Testing Service (ETS), USA the test is administered around the globe by Testing & Assessment Company Prometric.

The TOEFL iBT test, administered in an internet-based format, is an important part of your journey to study in an English-speaking country.

There are four sections (Listening, Reading, Speaking and Writing) which take a total of about four and a half hours to complete and each section is taken online.

During the test, you are asked to perform tasks that combine more than one skill, such as:

  • Read, listen and then speak in response to a question
  • Listen and then speak in response to a question
  • Read, listen and then write in response to a question

Read 3 - 5 passages from academic texts and answer questions.


60 – 90 minutes

34 – 51 questions

Listen to lectures, classroom discussions and conversations, then answer questions.


10 minutes


20 minutes

6 tasks

Express an opinion on a familiar topic; speak based on reading and listening tasks.


50 minutes

2 tasks

Write essay responses based on reading and listening tasks; support an opinion in writing.




The TOEFL iBT test is held around 30 – 40 times a year (2-4 times a month) at ETS- authorized test centers in Dhaka.

The Registration Fee is USD 150.00
