Application Process & Timeline

  1. 12 months before intake: Research programs and universities on official sites like studyinhungary.hu or university websites.
  2. Application submission: Apply online during the respective intake application windows.
  3. Prepare required documents: Passport, academic transcripts, CV, SOP, LORs, language test scores, medical certificate, and proof of finances.
  4. Application fee: Pay the required non-refundable fee (varies by university).
  5. Admission result: Admission decisions are usually announced within 1–3 months after the application deadline.
  6. Visa application: Once admitted, apply for a student visa/residence permit through the Hungarian embassy or consulate.
  7. Arrival: Students can arrive up to 1 month before the program start date.

Hungary Student Visa – Requirements & Documents

  • Visa application fee: Approx. €60–€100 (varies by consulate).
  • Service fees: May apply for visa center processing.
  • Proof of financial support: Must demonstrate sufficient funds (~€400/month) to cover living expenses for the duration of stay.

Hungarian student residence permits are usually valid for the entire study period. Students can work part-time during their studies (usually up to 24 hours per week).
