Tuition Fees & Living Costs

  • Tuition Fees (Public Universities): Tuition-free for all students (non-EU/EEA included).
  • Private Universities: €7,000 – €20,000 per year (varies by program).
  • Living Costs: €12,000 – €15,000 per year (~€1,000 – €1,250/month).

Students must show proof of funds: ~NOK 151,690 (approx. €13,000) per year (as of 2025).

Language Proficiency Requirements – IELTS / TOEFL

  • English-taught Programs:
    • IELTS: 6.0 – 6.5
    • TOEFL iBT: 80–90
  • Norwegian-taught Programs: Norwegian proficiency required (Bergenstest or equivalent).

Standardized Tests

  • Undergraduate: No SAT/ACT required.
  • Postgraduate: GRE/GMAT required for MBA or Business programs.
  • Some programs require entrance exams/interviews, especially in competitive fields.

Application Process & Timeline

  1. 12 months before intake: Explore programs via Samordna Opptak (for undergraduate) or university websites (for Master’s).
  2. Prepare Documents: Passport, transcripts, IELTS/TOEFL, SOP, LORs, CV.
  3. Submit Application: Online via national or university-specific portals.
  4. Receive Admission Letter: Offers issued by April–May.
  5. Apply for Student Visa (Residence Permit for Studies) through UDI (Norwegian Immigration Directorate).

Work While Studying & Post-Graduation

  • During Studies: Students can work 20 hours/week during semesters and full-time during holidays.
  • After Graduation:
    • Graduates can apply for a 12-month residence permit to search for jobs.
    • Once employed, they can switch to a skilled worker visa and later apply for permanent residency.
